How to install on Android

Download the APK
Tap Download for Android on your phone. Chrome may warn that the file can be harmful — tap Download anyway.

Open the file
Open crowdbanger.apk from the download notification or your Downloads folder.

Allow “Install unknown apps”
If asked, tap Settings and turn on Allow from this source for Chrome (or your file manager), then go back.

Install & open
Tap Install, then Open. Allow notifications so the lock-screen controls can show.
What's new in v1.1.22
CrowdBanger Host 1.1.22: smoother playback on slow data. Music buffers much further ahead and waits for a real cushion before resuming, so it no longer keeps starting and stopping. Uses a lighter audio stream on mobile or slow connections, loads the next song early, and rides out dropped connections without restarting the song. Room-code callouts still follow your /admin Room Code schedule.

FAQ & troubleshooting
Why isn't it on Google Play?
CrowdBanger Host is distributed directly from crowdbanger.com for now, so Android asks you to allow installs from your browser once. The app is signed by CrowdBanger and only talks to crowdbanger.com.
It says “App not installed” or “package conflicts”.
An older CrowdBanger build signed differently is already on the phone. Uninstall the old CrowdBanger app (long-press the icon → Uninstall), then install this one again.
I can't find the Install unknown apps setting.
Go to Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps → Chrome (or Files) → Allow from this source. On Samsung it's Settings → Apps → ⋮ → Special access.
Music stops when the screen turns off.
Allow notifications for CrowdBanger, and in Settings → Apps → CrowdBanger → Battery choose Unrestricted. Some phones (Samsung, Xiaomi) pause background apps unless you do this.
How do updates work?
The app checks crowdbanger.com for new versions and offers a one-tap update. You can also check from Settings → Check for app updates, or just download again from this page.
Do guests need the app?
No. Only the host phone that plays the music needs it. Guests join in any browser at crowdbanger.com with the room code.
iPhone?
There's no iPhone app yet. iPhone hosts can use crowdbanger.com in Safari.
